Clinical Evaluation Treatment with Single Dose Fluconazole(Diflucan^(¢ç)) in Patients with Recurrent Vaginal Candidiasis

Abstract
A clinical survey on effects of single dose bis-triazole-Fluconazole therapy on recurrent vaginal condidiasis has been carried out in 43 patients who visited Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in National Medical Center, Inje University Seoul Paik Hospital, Soon Chun Hyang University Hospital, and Ewha Womans University Hospital from July 1, 1989 to October 31, 1989.
The results were as follows:
1. The majority of patients(62.8%) were between 20 and 39 in age, and the most patients (62.8%) had one or two children.
2. The most offending organism was Candida albicans(93%).
3. At the end of therapy, symptoms such as pruritus, burning sensation and vaginal discharge were eliminated in 94.6%, 88.2% and 85.0% of patients, respectively.
Elemination of signs such as vulvar and vaginal erythema, excoriation, vaginal discharge and cervical erosion were noted in 94.9%, 88.2%, 74.4% and 61.5% of patients, respectively.
4. The cure rate difined as negative culture and improved clinical symptoms and signs after treatment were 88.9% at initial evaluation and 87.1% at final evaluation.
5.. There were no undesirable side effects of the drug or laboratory abnormalitis after treatment.
